This added control on my iPod-specific connection allows me to navigate through tracks using my vehicle’s audio system controls. There is just a set of steering-wheel-mounted buttons that would not even dare to let you take your eyes off the road. Famous for this gizmo feature is BMW, Mercedes Benz and Scion. And next in line is Ford, GM and Mazda that have just recently announced the latest feature of their upcoming car makes and models.

One of the best finds I got is the rear parking camera. How does it work? This camera is integrated with rear parking sensors that you would just hear beeping every time you approach an object that have already become fairly common. It is a rear-mounted parking parking camera, commonly featured in Chevrolet Tahoe, Honda Odyssey, Lexus ES 350, and Toyota Sienna. I was surprised to read the ideas of an Economist named Paul Krugman. He had this written article in the New York Times that talks about a very reasonable, yet middle-of-the-road approach to cutting fossil fuel consumption. He caught my interest when he said that we have to “Be more like Europe.”

It froze me for a while, analyzing what he had just said in that article. Alright, so what’s with Europe that we have to look up to? Until I found out that most Europeans seldom drive an automobile. Not because they can’t afford to have one, but because they are disciplined enough to limit themselves from causing added pollution to the earth.

So I found myself reading further to his ideal thoughts. He mentioned in his article that to be able to cope up with expensive oil, there are actually two secrets that must be done. First, own fuel-efficient cars and secondly, don’t drive them too much.

The first secret he revealed could be quite easy as long as we are able to successfully find a real fuel-efficient car. However, the second secret he revealed is somewhat difficult to ponder and even to do.

I happened to enjoy the roads less traveled last weekend because of the great weather we have. It was nice navigating the dirty and endless roads of the back country. One thing I have come to notice is this red pickup truck that happened to pass me by when I stopped to refuel down the road. I almost forgot to post it over here, thanks God I remembered anyway! Look how grand it looks and tell you, it’s so noisy with the booming sound it carries all through out the country road. I also get to talk with the gasoline boy who said that it comes in the same way often with no particular business.

I couldn’t help but envy the driver and/or owner of that sleek red truck of model or make I can’t make of. It seems so good for the idle task of roaming around, carrying its truck bed that is only packed with those speakers. I couldn’t think of myself spending a lot for the speakers, let alone for the fuel I will need to burn just to parade my ‘disco-on-board’. Whoooaaa, I work hard for the money I spend all day so even if I want to, I’m not going to mess with it for such activity.

Probably, I’ll just spend it for accessories that will not only better my ride’s aesthetic side but will also ensure protection on my major performance parts so it will last longer than its recommended service life. I can even picture people riding here smiling and starting conversations because of the funny aura of their ride home, work, or school. Remember that what a smile can open to a great day, a ‘mood setter’ as some would call it? Then, this is another form of a mood setter and I think this is better as all will be just smiling and sparking up conversations!

Below is a picture of a man piping, which is actually the exhaust tip of the bus. I will bet that all following vehicles and even passersby are already smiling and having fun with this great show of craftsmanship, besides it also helps explain smoking as another form of exhaust… relevant, huh?

Another is the vehicle advertising of tiernitos. Here, you can mistake the guy to be really smashed on the rear of the bus while his doggies are running for a pack of tiernitos. No need to explain, this creativity already shows how good the pack is…

Here is something from our Japanese friends, a camera that is painted on the rear part of a bus so the wheels will appear as the focusing lens. This can also be printed on the front or anywhere on the bus where there is a wheel to act as the focus. An inner voice tells me that when the bus drove by, standbys should stop and smile for the best focus! The same when it stops and you are right in front of the wheels as this could be your time to shine!

The real public display of affection is pictured in this bus shutters. When there is a passenger entering as well as going out, the shutters move away and the kissers move away too. When it shuts up, the kissers move closer and makes contact. How many times the shutters opens and closes are the times the kissers kiss, and since it is a mouth freshener they are advertising, my inner senses tells me how useful this breath freshener can be. If there are romantic advertisements, there are also adventurous ones. Below is a sample of a wildlife creature featured by the National Geographic Channel. I can see it is a shark with the sharp teeth positioned on the shutters of the bus. When the shutters open up, the passenger enters, and the shutters close. My inner senses tells me that it’s like in the movies when this big fish swallows up its victim and gone just like that.

This bus is for your eyes only; I mean the advertising concept of the bus. Here the eyes are positioned on the wheels which really look like eyes either by far or near. Lesser black ink consumption huh? For hours and hours, the wheels-eyes are exposed to the environment conditions of the road, just the same with our physical eyes that work night and day. The bottom line- refresh your eyes!

This one is made for the music buffs! The wheels as the disc, really useful vehicle part don’t you say? Another savings for black ink.

Talking about automobiles makes me think of my ‘wheel of life’ Look at the picture above and enjoy your time. Laugh and you laugh at your own life. This is what each of us is going to go through. For the purpose of discussion, and to have something to post in this blog LOL, let’s tackle each one out.

The first one is a picture when you and I were just little babies. You or I in the crib or trolley and our parents are those that push the crib around so we can smell the fresh scent of the environment we will be nurtured on or simply have a feel of it.

The next is when this baby, which maybe you or I, is already a toddler playing on a little bike. Gaining strength and stamina to have energy in battling with the daily plays and learning a kid is exposed to.

Next will be when the once toddler, either you or I, reaches the adolescent stage. This is the right time when playing with bigger bikes are already approved by our parents. A little trust is gained for such bigger challenges. One learns how to balance and keep on the ground while avoiding hurtful tumbles.

Then comes the time when we are ready to conquer the world, which is pictured by our courage of driving a vehicle. For starters, you or I will drive a small compact car with the marquee unknown LOL. Maybe I will have a BMW as Ferrari is a bit far from reality, and you I don’t know. This is the same time when one starts to go through more challenges, starting life in the real world as they say.

Then family life starts to set in. This is pictured by the van that is pictured above. The spacious cabin is to accommodate the offspring that you or I will bring into this world. This is where even bigger challenges set in. This is the time when one does not only think about their own self but of the rest of the people around them. The bigger the space, the better for accommodating challenges in the real world.

Then you are back on being alone. This might be the time when your kids start their own family. You or I is presented in a picture driving a more flashy compact car, probably earned the pension lol! This is the time when you are ready to once again enjoy the world and the world is ready to rock again with you. No more challenges can take toll on you now because you have seen the worst and best in life.

But wait! You have probably enjoyed so much; you are being rushed to the nearest hospital via an ambulance lol! You think bad times are over huh? No, its not! For as long as you live you have to be careful as troubles are the twins of good times. Enjoy so much and you reap the worst of it. Relax too much and you end up nothing and with nothing.

Now, you or I have understood the real meaning of life as pictured taking life slowly as possible. Being careful after all, that is what we learn about in life. Taking and living life to fullest one day at a time, that is what this picture is trying to tell us.

This is the first design of pickup truck introduced in the US by the Korean auto manufacturer. The new model will attain its design on the original rear-wheel-drive Sorento. And after a long years of studying the U.S truck market, it now appears that Kia is expecting to migrate to a front-wheel-drive unibody platform while using a V-g engine.

Kia representative based in America said that Americans want a bigger and tougher truck as this is becoming the needs of the family vehicles. And because the midsize market meets the needs of the family, they will provide these needs by producing a mid-size pickup without the bulk and expense of the full size form factor. Aside from that, this Mojave will also feature the midgate popularized by the Chevy Avalanche, where it uses a rear seats fold down while the rear glass can be lifted up manually. The front wall of the bed may also be converted and slide forward to meet the vehicle’s front seat through a touch of the button, located along the dash. Hence, the seat can be positioned in two different manners.

There are still more! The wheelbase it uses is 130 inches while having a total length of 210 inches. The wheels are 20 inches with a 20-inch sport tires. The engine is a 3.8 liter, DOHC 24-valve V-6 that produces about 280 horsepower along with a 5-speed electronic controlled automatic transmission. Likewise, its frame construction is much longer compared to the Sorento platform. The rack and pinion steering it uses are also designed with a 4-wheel steering in mind for the future.

This new model is approved for production at its new plant located in West Point, Georgia. The plant will start to operate in November 2009 and the Mojave is the first vehicle to be produced in the said plant.

Because of the increasing gas price and stricter fuel economy, getting smaller and lighter pickup trucks may roar to a success in the market! So, Kia is just about to experience the edge when this Mojave concept pickup car starts to be out in the market.

From my previous post, I gave you few examples of top selling convertible cars. But before you grab one in the market, make yourself familiar with these important factors first.

1. Size - Convertibles are available in 2-seat roadsters and larger 4-seater luxury models. If you prefer the luxury-brand models, expect its price to be really lavish.

2. Price - Prices may range from the most affordable convertible cars to the most luxurious models.

3. Engine/fuel economy - choosing from a four - and six - cylinder engines or a powerful V6 or V8 engines. If you want to ensure fuel efficiency, the four – and – six cylinder-designed models is a perfect choice.

4. Safety – Most new convertibles offer a fixed and pop-up roll bar that protects the passengers during accidents. Different safety devices are used. The airbags that are deployed from the seats are among the most common device used. In addition, a head-protecting airbags are also installed in some luxury-brand models. Unfortunately, the mirrors used in these models are smaller compared to regular vehicles so they create large blind spots.

And you think you have seen too much? Wait until you get a look at probably the most beautiful but surely the most luxurious bus in the world! Whooaaa!! Here it is!

See? No, no that’s not all. I’m just trying to give you the perspective of this transportation. How grand, isn’t it? The sleek and sporty monochromatic color transcends the luxuriousness of the vehicle and the taste of the owners.

Let’s look at it in full view:

Did I hear a loud wooooowwww!!?? I understand the feeling but you haven’t actually seen the best part. Let me take you there---the ‘inside story’:

Who said driving won’t be fun and exciting? This area will negate the assumption that drivers are tasteless and driving is not a lucrative profession. I just can imagine driving one like this lol!

Let’s move farther. Right behind the drive seat is the comforting and warming living room that is lavishly set and decorated for long travels and travelers’ satisfaction. Its furniture and fixture are grand and suited for every family traveling occasion. Air conditioned and padded with well designed carpeting to enhance the already relaxing mood of the sitting area. This is completed with lighting effects that synchronize perfectly the overall motif and theme of the room. This setting is made exactly to promote family’s luxurious crossover or just plainly for road travels after hectic weekdays at work and school.

So, who would say that this is not a home away from home?

This is the farther half of the room, the breakfast and dining room! The executive touch continues with the warm leathers and grand fixtures.

Let’s move even farther the stretch of the bus and see what’s out there.. Looks like a tv room, huh? But it’s actually not. This bus may be luxurious but its space is made so with perfect practicality. This is one of the three bed rooms in the bus. It is furnished with spacious leather seats and couch for that total watching experience especially when shared with the whole family which is complemented by a wide screen flat tv and a cool lighting.

Here’s another story to tell: the other room. A brighter and cozier place to spend the night time while on the bus. This is a more space-conscious setting, but meticulously toned so the need for space won’t be highlighted. This time, the wide screen flat tv is attached to wall adjacent to the bed so watching while relaxing on the bed will be possible at the same time. The head of the bed is also a bureau for late night writing.

The grandest room on the bus: the master’s bed room. Space is not a worry in this room, there’s plenty actually! The coziness of this room is merely because of the spaciousness, perfect color, and complementing lighting effect. The living plant on the wash tub also adds life. Oh, how I wish I could afford to spend at least a night in this room and feel the soft touch of the mattress! Lol.

But not to forget is the rest room…The perfect place to refresh and freshen up after a long day of drive and/or travel. Spaciousness negates the fact that you are on a bus.

This traveling pleasure is brought about by the thoughtfulness and great thinking of auto engineers and designers who incorporated CAT technology with modern living.

And look at it! Do I just see a garage underneath? Wow! This family bus is terrific! Living in this place could be a great and unique experience for a family!

When there is no traffic - Highway in the Sky

I still remember the worst experience I had on the road because of traffic. Boy! It was really annoying! How can I just forget the time when I miss one of the important events in my life! It was my cousin’s wedding, and since I can’t come earlier because of my work. I decided to take the last minute flight. Unfortunately, I did not make it because I was stuck on heavy traffic. Back then, I thought I wish there is no traffic.

I guess the answer to this fancy delusion is when cars start to feature the concept of flying. So when I read about this article on the net I tried to figure out if this design would really help…

The Personal Air and Land Vehicle (PALV) as they call it, is a 21st century car. It was recognized as the solution to the increasing congestion in different cities from around the world. This aerodynamic 3-wheel design is like a luxury car that provides the agility of a motorbike. Sound exciting, right? Oh yes! Just the thought of running your car up in the air is a nice experience that every one would definitely love!
But the study has failed for two reasons – flying cars and transformers. But a Dutch researcher named John Bakker did not allow blunder. So he decided to work closely in developing its design.

More about its design

This Personal Air and Land Vehicle (PALV) is a single-occupancy that will drive like an enclosed motorcycle that can expand its rotors and convert it into autowing. As the rotors expand, this PALV will leap into the air, allowing you to cruise around the altitude. But while it runs on the road, the narrow-wheeled vehicle provides aerodynamic condition. The tilting mechanism it uses allows it to lean into curves. This can run about 125 miles per hour while ensuring improved fuel efficiency as it reaches about 70 miles per gallon.

When in air, this PALV can reach the floor of commercial air space, which is 4,000 feet above the ground. Unlike aircraft, this only requires short runway to take off and to land. This is because of its Very Short Take Off and Vertical Landing capability (VSTOVL). However, it requires at least 165 feet on take off and 16 feet to land. The airspeed ranges as slow as 18 miles to as much as 120 per hour.

Another thing that I find amazing about this is the Helicopter-like technology. However, of course it does not work as fast as the helicopter does. In fact, it does not hover and flies quieter than the helicopter. Actually, it is comparable to the traditional function of the single-prop aircraft because of the rotor that is not powered. This rotor provides a lift that is the same as the fixed wing and causes to spin by the forward motion by means of the air. And once it malfunctions, it will descend in a vertical manner, using its mechanical steering. Hence, it will always safe to land.

Driving such innovation could be a great experience to us commuters. But the question is… will it be safe as well to drive this car up in the air? Will law enforcers would handle the situation if there are more PALV flies in the air. According to NASA, they are also trying to develop a system that will handle large numbers of PALV, in fact they call it The Highway in the Sky (HITS) that uses GPS in defining low-altitude virtual highways to allow aircraft to follow and avoid mid-air collisions. But the idea will still remain unrequited unless all these researches publicly announce its success. So let us wait for the next twenty or thirty years, from which technologies would allow the different designs of high-performing vehicles.

Another break through from the advancement of automotive industry is the Crash Warning System that can be installed in the vehicle to monitor a nearby traffic and warns the driver for possible collisions. Imagine how this device can help save lives of thousand motorists in the road. This system can make your vehicle talk to another car on the road. So it is like a robot that can tell the future.

Wow! Driving could become more fun! What do we have next?

In a study, a prototype CWS was used in a vehicle that is working properly. It was found out that the prototype actually can find its proper position using the GPS, speed, and the trajectory of other vehicles on the road. This is able to find this trajectory because the car is able to emerge communication protocol, which is named as the Vehicle2vewhicle or V2V. the information that is being gathered allows the prototype CWS to calculate the relative position of other vehicles on the road. Once the data that were gathered predicts a possible collision, it warns the driver, allowing him to take necessary action.

One of the research coordinator, Jose Ignacio Herrero Zarzosa said that the prediction took place in about one to three seconds ahead of the collision. So it was still useful since the driver is able to react timely. And it worked from medium to high speed.

Hence, vehicles that use high performing GPS systems then can locate the car within a few meters. So this can certainly provide drivers a great advantage in ensuring safety.

By now, there are modern cars that use the systems that provide similar functions like the Crash Warning System. The Mercedes is among these. As time goes by, surely, more and more car manufacturer will use the same system to ensure safe driving. The only trouble that most car owners will experience is the unforgiving economics of the motor industry. So, to let common drivers experience the advantage it offers on the road, these smart ideas should be affordable enough.

In the future, cars are smarter than human beings are. If you do not like the idea, I can’t blame you, but there are actually a number of studies and researches in different countries that are trying to develop smarter cars to provide us with a safe ride. If you were amazed with the talking car featured in some movies, don’t be too jealous because I have a good news! Future cars will be like robots that you will in fact hear them talk.

A research conducted in University of California indicates that the primary cause of road accidents is the lag reaction to unforeseen events. In fact, one of the researchers, Jim Misener, added, “The primary problem, or the primary issue, is the driver.”

Because of that, these productive researchers conducted an experiment that allows a vehicle to use a WiFi technology that would make cars talk to each other and transmit the movement or action along the road. This smart cars technology works with smart roads that use transmitters on the road beam. These transmitters signal the receiver of the car and measure the interaction between the road users on road intersections. In addition, this innovation will alert the drivers of the dangers. The design of the smart-car technology includes screens on the dashboard. Once this screen flashes in red arrow, it indicates that it is not safe to turn. The driver can also transmit information on the traffic condition.

Another research study in the Sandia National Laboratories is also designing a vehicle that is capable of analyzing the human behavior. This car uses some data that are already found in the vehicle’s computer. Hence, these data collects a wide range of physical data like brake pedal force, steering wheel angle, acceleration, and turn signaling. Likewise, they added a specialized sensors that use a sensitive chair and ultrasonic six-degree of freedom head tracking system for measuring the driver’s posture. This is essential in detecting the stress that the driver experiences.

Do you find these cars strange? Well, these cars that use WiFi technologies, may still be off-road. But do you know that there some of the cars today that you can find running on the road also uses high-technologies, like the adaptive-control cruise. This unit allows the vehicle to slow down once the radar or the laser detects the vehicle for tailgating. This will also warn you when drifting off the lane markings. Hence, vehicles today are also smart!

These smart cars for the future still have their bugs. But certainly, these engineers will provide these cars amazing progress as years pass by. What is exciting about these cars is that it the engineers are not doing anything for less. They ain’t doing anything new and different since the computer software will be installed with the same computer design the vehicle uses.
Probably, after five years, these smart cars are completely possible running in some highways. Hence, these cars will provide us other advantages like driving alone.

Driving alone?! I don’t think this is a good idea since most of us would still want to take control of the cruise. But because of the continuous studies in the latest smart car-craze technology, this could be possible. In fact, more and more cars in the future will become smarter.

Sometimes, there are simple things that are hard to find, and this exactly makes our life difficult. However, these things are only hard to achieve because of the obstacles in front of every big dream. These obstacles are not hindrance, for they just wanted us to prove how badly we wanted it. But we should not set limit on what we could do, for we need to strive and find ways to achieve this goal, just like what Michael Schumacher did. It was always his dream to participate in F1 event. Of course, this is impossible for beginners, so he considered karting during his early childhood.

Karting is a perfect training ground for a serious racer's career. It prepares the driver for high-speed-wheel-to-wheel racing by developing precision control, quick reflexes, including decision-making skills. Because of that, this became one of the US’ fastest-growing motorsport events. In fact, different major cities in this country are providing more tracks designed for racing. The Hill Country Kart Club located in Texas is among these.

Karting is a variation of open-wheeler motor sport that uses small-four-wheeled vehicles called karts, gearbox/shifter karts, or go-arts. Its design often comes with a raced on scaled-down circuits. It comes in three forms, namely, fun, concession, and the racing. Fun karts are designed for fun racing around your yard or alley. Concession Karts are used at fun parks. Finally, the racing karts are purpose built machines that are designed to allow you the opportunity to tune its engine to suit your own style and needs. They use the most exotic materials available today in the market. Racing karts are faster than "concession" type.

The Racing karts are available in different designs. It varies to the type of racing you are interested to compete. These are the Enduro, Oval, and the Sprint category. Enduro Division runs much longer. It came from the word, endurance. Oval racing takes place on tighter tracks with a distance of 10 miles. Oval racing is the 2nd largest division. It is famous in the southern regions of US due the popularity of NASCAR. Oval chassis is engineered specifically for tight courses, for the kart only turns in one direction. The most popular is the sprint racing. It can be driven on any types of tracks, so they are more versatile.

Fashionista is the term used to describe a person that is much aware of his personal appearance. It is used to suggest playfulness in clothing, and accessories for reasons that include modesty or even protection. For girls, anything that they own can be used for fashion. And the car itself is among these. In fact, I have seen many women painting their car in pink because this color created a perfect girlish expression! Pink is one of the cutest colors I’ve ever seen. For me, it demonstrates love, fashion, feminism, and passion. Most girls are in love with this color and use it to express their personality. So I tried looking through the net for cool pics of Barbie’s car.

These cars are called Barbie’s car since the famous fashion toy, Barbie is known for its pink logo. They look brilliant especially if you would consider adding a Barbie logo at some parts. I wonder how it feels driving this car. Boy! I can’t wait to drive my own pink car!

And fashion continues inside the car; look at its interior… with the leather seats, door panels, dashboard, floor mats, and seat belts, pink simply brings life inside. It’s just perfect! So for women, who are avid collectors of “anything that is pink,” perhaps you might consider painting your car in pink as well.

“Chevy’s Promise to a better life” is an environmental program that brings up the youth’s awareness of energy conservation and alternative solutions to different environment problems.

Chevy proudly announces its participation to a cleaner-act environment by hosting a major concert, entitled, Chevy Rocks the future, held last February 19 at the Disney Studio. The new line of gas-friendly vehicle that uses the latest and the safest in green technology is here as the concert introduces the Chevy’s lineup of gas-friendly to gas-free vehicles. These are the Equinox Fuel Cell, Tahoe 2 Mode Hybrid, the Avalanche that features the E85 FlexFuel capacity, the Impala with Active Fuel Management engine technology; and the Chevy Volt that features the E-Flex extended-range electric propulsion system. Other vehicles like the Aveo5 subcompact, the all-new Malibu Hybrid and the Camaro "Bumblebee" from the "Transformers" movie are also included.

This event provides great benefits to a number of students, as they influence and inspire them to play their role in protecting and preserving the environment. They encourage the youth to make important changes in their daily lives for a better environment and for a better future. Chevy rolls down the green carpet for these celebrities while influencing the youth to preserve our environment in a more entertaining way.

The kids also commented with how terrific this event was! I guess they were all amazed when they saw the stars rock for the future! Who says education cannot be entertaining? Better, think again, for these kids just love the way they were introduced to environmental awareness. So Chevy, keep rockin’!

Hybrid Toyota Prius

From my previous post, I discuss about hybrid cars or electric vehicles and because I was curious with how exactly they perform, I tried to look for a perfect vehicle model that will help me analyze its performance. Glad I found this nice article about an electric-controlled Toyota Prius.

Toyota Prius is the first hybrid car sold in the US. This Prius model is different from an ordinary vehicle. In fact, Toyota uses two (2) batteries by recalibrating the electronics at the same time uses an onboard charger. It uses several high quality materials that enable the vehicle to travel in several miles. These include the new energy monitor screen installed at the center of display. This screen will provide a red or green bar to help the driver in maximizing the EV operation. When recharging this vehicle, you simply need to plug the car connector into the Prius and the household outlet. Charging may take about 3 – 4 hours when a 110-volt outlet is used or 1 – 2 hours for 220-volt outlet.

Today, Prius hybrid cars are renowned for an overall improvement of 25 percent in fuel efficiency and 90 percent fewer smog-forming emissions compared to a conventional combustion engine. With the mileage standards advancement this model has provided, certainly other automakers will have little choice but to consider converting their gasoline engine vehicles to a more sophisticated hybrid vehicle. And because of the increasing sale in hybrid models in the US, Toyota considered a continuous expansion of Toyota Prius hybrid cars that made them more available. But there is some issues that create complexity to the car manufacturers. In fact, the source and the distribution of electricity became one of the national concerns. When I first heard of a vehicle that runs through electric current, I was really amazed! I cannot imagine how surprising our technologies are moving ahead. These are hybrid cars that are powered by fuel cells. What are fuel cells? An article says that fuel cells are cells that are similar to a battery, from which a chemical process takes place, producing electricity. With the case of the fuel cells, the fuel refers to hydrogen. Hydrogen mixes up with oxygen in order to produce electricity.

Instead of using a gasoline engine, an electric motor is used. If you will watch a hybrid car run, you would have no idea that the car is actually electric. In some case, electric cars are produce by converting the gasoline-powered vehicle, so it is impossible to tell.

Hybrid cars were actually out in the market way back before. But the production was stop after a period of time for reason that its continuous success in the market will threaten the world’s biggest industries – automobile and oil. And because of that, hybrid cars remain discreet especially with ordinary people. So if you find yourself clueless about it that is because Auto manufacturers pretend uninterested in such and they do not allocate advertising money for promotion.

The reason why I became interested in hybrid cars are the great advantages it provide to our environment because of the absence of gasoline. These benefits paved its way and be known in the market as the Green cars. So, the answer to the continuous rise of gas price, climate change, and other environmental concerns has arrived!
